Mixed Choir wins SWEEPSTAKES!

The LHS Lobos' Daniel Arredondo-directed Varsity Mixed Choir was all smiles following their first division scores in both Concert and Sight-Reading (gained with a unanimous sweep of judges' 1's). Performing in the second day of the annual competition, the Varsity Mixed Choir's Sweepstakes win finished off a great UIL competition as four Lehman choirs won Sweepstakes trophies, including a wins by a pair of first-day non-varsity choirs as well as the Sweepstakes win by the Lobo Varsity Treble Choir who garnered all 1's by the judges as well.

Lehman Wind Ensemble Brings Home Sweepstakes

The Lehman High School Band's Wind Ensemble rolled to another Sweepstakes showing in the 2012 UIL Division 4A Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. Held at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, the contest saw the Lobos' Joey Lucita-directed ensemble demonstrate the excellence that has come to be the standard in the district. Lobo Varsity Treble Choir Grabs Sweepstakes

Lehman High School's Varsity Treble Choir, under the direction of Daniel Arredondo, garnered another Sweepstakes trophy in the UIL Region 18 Vocal Division Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. The feat, accomplished with a unanimous string of judges' 1st division scores, helped represent an outstanding two-day showing for the Lehman Choir Program, which won four Sweepstakes trophies. Lobos Claim UIL Technical Theatre Design Honors

A number of Lehman High School Theatre students have claimed honors in the UIL Technical Theatre Design Contest, including Jacob Soto (Award of Merit - Marketing), Caitlyn Cygan (Award of Distinguished Merit - Group), Joshua Banbury (Award of Honor - Costumes); Conrad Russell (Award of Merit - Marketing), Sierra Sambrano (Award of Distinguished Merit - Group), Jay Ramos (Award of Distinguished Merit - Group), and Kelsey Grimes (Award of Merit - Costumes). The Cygan, Ramos, Sambrano Group Entry for Costume, Marketing, Set, and Make-up) was in the top group of award-winners from which State Finalists were chosen. Lobo Concert Band Gets 1st-Ever UIL Sweepstakes

Setting the early pace for two days of musical excellence, the Lehman High School Concert Band scored its historic first-ever Sweepstakes win in the annual UIL Concert and Sight-Reading competition held recently at the HCISD Performing Arts Center. Directed by Johnnie Green, the Lobos received a three-judge score of 1-2-1 for a final first division in Concert, then pulled a unanimous three-judge decision of 1's in Sight-Reading. Lobos receive TLA Media Awards

Six Lehman High School students are among students statewide receiving Texas Library Association Media Awards, recognizing excellence in photography or graphic design projects. The students include Ian McGrath, Melissa Compton, Eugene Jared, Karina Geiss, Hannah Donaldson, and Haley Parsons. Lehman High School librarian Carrie Bartsch announced the winners, noting the annual awards "promote excellence in amateur media production and its importance in life-long learning." The state-wide TLA-sponsored event has been staged since 1988 and is open to all school-aged Texas residents. Bartsch additionally expressed appreciation to Lehman Art teacher Debra Flynn for facilitating the project entry process. (see a photo by Jim Cullen)

Lobos Advances to Academic UIL Regionals

The Lehman High School Academic UIL Team enjoyed a strong showing at the 2012 District 27-4A Spring Meet. The Lobos rolled up 215 team points, sending a solid contingent on to the Region Meet. Lehman UIL Coordinator Michael Saberian said after the meet, "it was our greatest year for student participation in our UIL Academics Program. A superb group of academic coaches cultivated the talents of a great group of kids with the support of a great district staff." Regional qualifiers Marcia Rondonuwu (Spelling), Lauren Lumague (Spelling), Imani Fairman (Prose Interpretation), Derrick Robinson (Accounting), Michelle Williamson (Spelling), Victoria Salinas (Spelling/Social Studies), Madeleine Hewitt (Science), Marco Garcia (Calculator Apps), Andres Castro (Social Studies). Congratulations for representing the Lobo Nation at Regionals!
