Lehman Navy JROTC Competes at Tarleton State

The Lehman High School Navy JROTC traveled to Stephenville recently, competing in the Tarleton State University Army ROTC Drill Meet. Placing efforts for the Lobo NJROTC included A'leya Banbury's 1st in Knock-out Drill, Cory Schmidt's 2nd in the Male Mile Run, and a 3rd place for Inspection Female Color Guard (Shelby White, Ana Montoya, Diana Jaco, A'leya Banbury). Please join us next Thursday night, May 3rd at 6:00 in the cafeteria for new tradition at Lehman High School – The First Annual Senior Decision Day at Lehman. This is an evening celebration for seniors, their families, and their teachers, and the Lehman community to announce and celebrate their commitments and plans for their future. Everyone is invited to attend and hear where seniors have chosen to go to college, what branch of military they have volunteered to serve in, what technical school they will go to, what apprenticeship they will start, or what great job they will begin.

Senior Alicia Naspretto, our mascot "Louie" for four years, won 2nd Place at the State Mascot Competition.

Our Step Team that included Aleah Mays-Williams, Ariel Mays-Williams, Darius Easterling, Jasmine Cherry, Keylan Sneed, Nathan Lewis competed in the recent South Central Texas Boys and Girls Club Talent Show and came home with First Place.

Eight Lehman High School Band students will represent the Lobo program at State Solo and Ensemble later this school year, the quartet, trio, and trumpet soloist the peak of a strong showing at the recent contest held at Hays High School. Thirty-four Lobo soloists earned First Division ratings at the local contest, 23 of them with Class I solos. Additionally, three ensembles earned the coveted First Divisions.

The Art Department will be represented at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition by Christian Montoya who qualified for this prestigious meet with his origami entry. The full Lobo contingent of outstanding artists included 41 Gold Medals in the annual Regional Competition. Seven Lehman High School students won recognition at the annual Scholastic Art competition, three groups accounting for eleven individual awards. Three of the group, including Andres Castro, Jeremiah Flynn, and Kelli Rush, qualified to have entries move on to national judging. The full contingent of honorees included Michelle Williamson, Karina Geiss, Elizabeth Mercado, and Gwyndolyn Wilkerson.

Four Computer Applications and Computer Science UIL team members competed at Texas State University's Association of IT Professionals high school meet and made an impressive showing. Arthur Tello, Desiree Montana, and Yarali Muniz scored twin 1-2-3 sweeps in Access competition and Excel competition. Teammate Branden Monroe additionally took a third in Java competition.

Three members of the Choir received recognition at the highly competitive Texas Music Educators Association 4A Pre-Area Choir auditions. Michael Robles and Joshua Banbury placed in the top five chairs and secured a slot on the prestigious choir and Ethan Becker took first alternate. All of these students pursuing all of these various endeavors give honor to our growing reputation and an outstanding high school.

Girls Soccer defeated Giddings Friday night 3-2. the Girls are 4-0 in district.

Boys Scooder defeated Giddings Friday night 4-0.

Boys basketball defeated Clemens Friday night 61-50. The playoffs are still possible.

LHS sent three CX (Policy) debate teams to the district UIL contest at Canyon High School. After a full day of debate rounds, Lehman students brought home 2nd, 3rd and 4th place hardware, qualifying one team for the state CX Debate competition in March. Results are as follows: 2nd Place: Ashley Morgan / Carissa Bishop. 3rd Place: Matt Cruz / Patrick Villarreal. 4th Place: Devin Francis / Alexandria Aguilar. /

Ashley Morgan and Carissa Bishop are making history - they are the first CX Debate team from Lehman to ever qualify to compete at the state level!!!!

The men's 400 Free relay (Jeremiah Flynn, Derek Hammond, Michael Marchan, and Jose Vasquez) made it to the finals! The boys didn't make it to state, but they managed to shave off 2 seconds from their best time.

Six Lehman High School student athletic trainers were honored by the Texas State Athletic Trainers' Association as Academic All-State. They were selected based on their dedication as Student Athletic Trainers at LHS, combined with the fact that they all maintained 92+ overall average in their classes from the start of their freshman year through the first six weeks of their senior year. The six seniors are Lauren Ayala, Melinda Perez-Gentry, Bobby Petmecky, Catherine Gonzalez, Jaylon Hardaway, and Anissa Robles. Lehman supporters offer their congratulations to these students and thank them for all the hard work they have put into the student trainer program at LHS.
